WNBA Star Sophie Cunningham Faces Backlash for Blaming Media Amid Trans-Athlete Controversy
WNBA star Sophie Cunningham has sparked outrage after publicly criticizing WNBA media for focusing on the trans-athlete debate, claiming it distracts from basketball. Her remarks drew swift condemnation from fans and observers, who accused her of instigating the controversy she now attributes to media coverage.
Critics highlight Cunningham’s earlier statements, her consistent support for protesters, and her engagement with them as evidence that she herself created the ‘distraction.’ The incident has intensified the debate around media priorities and player responsibilities in the league.
