VAR Expansion and Time-Wasting Crackdown Set for World Cup
The World Cup is set to introduce expanded VAR capabilities for corners and second yellow cards, alongside new countdown timers for goal kicks, throw-ins, and substitutions to combat time-wasting.
These rule changes, approved by Ifab, aim to improve game flow and will be implemented from June 1, with leagues having the option to opt out of certain VAR reviews.
