Stephen A. Smith Sparks Outrage with ‘Three White Dudes’ Take on New-Look Lakers
Veteran sports analyst Stephen A. Smith has ignited a firestorm of criticism with his controversial assertion that the new-look Los Angeles Lakers, led by “three white dudes” (Luka Dončić, Austin Reaves, and newly acquired Walker Kessler), cannot win an NBA championship.
His comments, made on “The Stephen A. Smith Show,” were widely denounced by influencers and sports personalities as “shameful,” “problematic,” and “ignorant,” drawing comparisons to a double standard regarding race in sports commentary. The incident has placed Smith under significant scrutiny regarding his future and prompted calls for him to retract his divisive remarks.
