Southern University to Honor Legacies of Caleb Wilson and Kavon Barnhill with Posthumous Degrees
Southern University and A&M College will posthumously award degrees to two students, Caleb Wilson and Kavon Barnhill, during its upcoming commencement ceremony. Wilson, a 20-year-old mechanical engineering student and member of the “Human Jukebox” Marching Band, died last year while pledging a fraternity, an event that sparked national dialogue on student safety. Barnhill, a 21-year-old nursing student, passed away in December after an 18-wheeler crash. Both students were preparing for their spring graduation, and these degrees honor their lives and significant contributions to the university community.
