O’Neill Fears Old Firm Atmosphere Could Be Lost After Pitch Invasion Concerns
Former Celtic manager Martin O’Neill has voiced his sadness and concern that the atmosphere of Old Firm derbies could be diminished following pitch invasion incidents at a recent Scottish Cup match between Celtic and Rangers. He believes the return of larger away fan allocations, like the 7,500 seen at Ibrox, is vital for the fixture’s unique intensity. O’Neill fears increased security concerns may lead to reduced away support in the future.
