Nigeria Stunned: First Women’s World Cup Miss as South Africa and Ghana Advance
Nigeria’s Super Falcons will miss their first-ever Fifa Women’s World Cup after a 2-1 play-off loss to South Africa in the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (Wafcon).
South Africa’s victory, with goals from Thembi Kgatlana and Refiloe Jane, coupled with Ghana’s win over Ivory Coast, means both nations will proceed to the inter-confederation qualifiers.
