Mourinho Confirms Secret Agreement to Replace Sir Alex Ferguson at Man Utd, Chose Chelsea Instead
Jose Mourinho has revealed he had an agreement to take over from Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United in 2013 but ultimately chose an emotional return to Chelsea instead, a decision he made “with my heart.” The candid disclosures are part of a new Netflix documentary, where Mourinho also discusses his controversial relationships with Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas and former Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich. He attributes his choice for Chelsea to a need to feel ‘loved’ after leaving Real Madrid, while shedding light on the complexities and conflicts that have marked his storied managerial career across Europe’s elite clubs.
