Liverpool Edge Sunderland in Iraola’s Debut, but Gomez Injury Casts Defensive Shadow
Liverpool secured a 4-2 victory in Andoni Iraola’s first match as manager, defeating Sunderland in a friendly in Nashville. The win, however, was overshadowed by an early injury to defender Joe Gomez, leaving Iraola with limited defensive options.
Goals from Dominik Szoboszlai, Federico Chiesa, and Lewis Koumas sealed the victory for Liverpool, but the defensive concerns, amplified by Gomez’s injury and the inexperience of his replacements, remain a significant talking point.
