Kick It Out Slams Regulator’s Diversity Proposals as ‘Inadequate’
Kick It Out, a leading anti-discrimination body, has criticized the English football regulator’s initial diversity proposals as insufficient, arguing they fail to address the core issues of equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in the sport. CEO Samuel Okafor stated the proposals put EDI ‘on the subs bench’ and urged the regulator to use its powers more effectively.
The group is calling for mandatory annual publication of workforce diversity data by clubs and board-level accountability for EDI. While the regulator acknowledges the importance of EDI and plans further consultation, Kick It Out fears the current direction may lead to a lack of meaningful change given the persistent under-representation in key football roles.
