Historic First: Man Charged Under New ‘Tailgating’ Law After Carabao Cup Final at Wembley
A 27-year-old man has become the first person in the UK to be charged under a new ‘tailgating’ law after the Carabao Cup final at Wembley. Benjamin Bailey faces court on 1 May for allegedly entering the match without a ticket, an offence now punishable by a five-year football banning order and a £1,000 fine. This legislation was introduced following the severe disorder at the Euro 2021 final, aiming to prevent unauthorized stadium entry.
