European Giants Threatened Club World Cup Boycott Over FIFA’s Disputed Commercial Plans
Europe’s top football clubs, represented by the European Football Clubs (EFC) group, threatened to boycott the Club World Cup over FIFA’s ‘Fifa Forward Enterprise’ (FFE) plans.
The clubs demanded that FIFA President Gianni Infantino abandon the FFE and finalize a long-proposed joint venture, warning that their participation hinged on these conditions. FIFA has since scrapped the FFE, and discussions are ongoing to salvage the joint venture.
