English Football Trials New Rule to End Goalkeeper Tactical Timeouts
English football leagues, in conjunction with the FA and Ifab, are trialling a new rule to prevent goalkeepers from taking tactical timeouts. If a goalkeeper receives treatment, an outfield player must temporarily leave the pitch.
This measure aims to curb the disruptive tactic of using goalkeeper injuries to break up play and allow for team talks, a practice that has drawn significant criticism.
