African Football Chief Faces Calls to Resign Over ‘Illegal’ Tenure, Mauritius Executive Claims
A prominent executive within the Confederation of African Football (Caf), Samir Sobha, has publicly declared that the current general secretary, Véron Mosengo-Omba, is unlawfully in his position due to exceeding the mandatory retirement age of 63, even after a granted extension expired. Sobha insists Mosengo-Omba must step down for Caf to respect its own statutes and appoint a legitimate successor. He also expressed regret to Morocco over a ‘great injustice’ they faced in the recent Africa Cup of Nations final.
