FIFA Fines Israel FA £141,700 for ‘Discrimination and Racist Abuse’
FIFA has sanctioned the Israeli Football Association (IFA) with a significant fine of 150,000 Swiss Francs (£141,700) and a warning following an investigation into alleged discrimination and racist abuse. The disciplinary action stems from a complaint lodged by the Palestine Football Association (PFA), which highlighted breaches of FIFA’s disciplinary code regarding offensive behaviour and discrimination.
The IFA is also mandated to display an anti-discrimination banner at its next three home matches and invest a portion of the fine in anti-discrimination initiatives, though it may appeal the decision. FIFA declined to act on a separate PFA complaint concerning Israeli teams in Palestinian territory, citing the West Bank’s complex legal status.
