Premier League Giants Fined: Chelsea and West Ham Hit with Heavy Penalties for January ‘Mass Confrontation’
Chelsea and West Ham have been hit with substantial fines of £325,000 and £300,000 respectively, following a “mass confrontation” during their Premier League clash in January. The incident, which saw West Ham’s Jean-Clair Todibo receive a red card, stemmed from a heated exchange between players in added time.
Both clubs admitted to FA charges of failing to control their players, with previous breaches of FA Rule E20.1 contributing to the severity of the penalties for the serious, unsightly incident at Stamford Bridge.
