Coventry End 25-Year Premier League Home Win Drought with Dominant Newcastle Victory
Coventry City ended a 25-year wait for a Premier League home victory and a top-flight goal, thrashing Newcastle United 4-1 in an emphatic display at the CBS Arena. Goals from Jack Rudoni, Sidiki Cherif, Ellis Simms, and Stephen Mfuni secured the landmark win, lifting Frank Lampard’s side out of the relegation zone.
This triumph, following a recent victory against Nottingham Forest, signifies Coventry’s strong announcement back in the Premier League. Teenage debut goalscorer Sidiki Cherif, a £20m summer signing, particularly impressed, becoming Coventry’s youngest Premier League scorer in over two decades and highlighting the team’s promising future.
