Mourinho Weighs In: Alexander-Arnold Not a Midfielder, Despite Versatile Role at Real Madrid
Jose Mourinho has stated that Trent Alexander-Arnold is not a natural midfielder, despite deploying him in that role for Real Madrid’s Champions League win against Inter Milan. While acknowledging Alexander-Arnold’s tactical effectiveness and effort, Mourinho pointed out the physical demands of the position.
The versatile player has previously been tried in midfield by England, with mixed results. Mourinho values Alexander-Arnold’s attacking contributions and adaptability, but suggests this midfield role was largely circumstantial due to team suspensions.
