Cameroon Makes History: Indomitable Lionesses Secure Maiden WAFCON Title with Dominant Display
Cameroon has made history by defeating tournament debutants Malawi 3-0 to win their first-ever Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title. Goals from Marie Ngah Manga and Naomi Eto secured the dominant victory in Rabat, marking a significant achievement for the Indomitable Lionesses.
This triumph is particularly notable as Cameroon, who initially failed to qualify, gained entry due to a tournament expansion, showcasing the success of CAF’s decision to broaden participation. Both Cameroon and Malawi, along with Algeria and Morocco, have now qualified for the 2027 Women’s Fifa World Cup in Brazil.
