African Quartet Makes History, Securing 2027 Women’s World Cup Spots

Kobit Sports 97 words

Algeria, Morocco, Cameroon, and Malawi have made history by securing their places in the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil. Their qualification comes after reaching the semi-finals of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (Wafcon), which served as the continent’s World Cup qualifier. This marks a significant milestone for these nations, with Algeria qualifying for the first time.

Teams that lost in the Wafcon quarter-finals still have a chance to qualify via intercontinental play-offs, while several European nations also continue their bids through their own play-off rounds. A total of 18 countries are now confirmed for the 32-nation tournament.
