Liberty Overhaul Roster Post-Valkyries Loss, Waiving Vanloo and Releasing Fowler in Pursuit of 2026 Contention
Following a blowout loss to the Golden State Valkyries, the New York Liberty have made significant roster changes, waiving guard Julie Vanloo and releasing forward Alex Fowler. These moves come as the team navigates early-season injuries to stars Sabrina Ionescu and Satou Sabally, who recently made her debut. The Liberty are actively working to optimize their squad, anticipating a powerful lineup with Ionescu’s return and Sabally’s full integration alongside Breanna Stewart, as they aim for WNBA contention.
