Southampton Expelled from Play-Offs Amid ‘Spygate’ Scandal, Middlesbrough Reinstated
Southampton has been expelled from the Championship play-offs for admitting to spying on multiple opposition teams, including Middlesbrough, Oxford United, and Ipswich Town. This decision sees Middlesbrough reinstated to face Hull City in the play-off final for a Premier League spot.
The club has also received a four-point deduction for the next Championship season. Southampton is expected to appeal the ruling, claiming the punishment is too severe.
