Fifa president Gianni Infantino’s attempt to orchestrate a handshake between Israeli and Palestinian football delegates at the Fifa congress ended in an awkward failure when Palestinian FA president Jibril Rajoub refused to participate.
Despite the setback, Infantino used the occasion to announce his intention to run for a third term as Fifa president next year, an election he is expected to win unopposed.
