Gheorghe Hagi Returns to Lead Romania National Team with Bold Ambitions
Romanian football icon Gheorghe Hagi has been appointed manager of the national team for the second time, twenty-five years after his first brief stint. The 61-year-old, known as the “Maradona of the Carpathians,” has signed a four-year contract, setting ambitious goals including winning every game, clinching the Nations League, and qualifying for the 2028 European Championship. Hagi succeeds Mircea Lucescu and aims to revitalize a team that hasn’t qualified for the World Cup since 1998.
